Denuclearization and Peace: The North Korean Dream?
“North Korea has since declared that it would shun any talk on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula, adding that it would not give up its nuclear weapons until “the denuclearization of the world is realized.”
The U.S. is one of the few nations that continue to hoard nuclear weapons. The leaders revel in their ability to undermine U.N. Disarmament Sanctions utilizing the votes of just three nations to do so: Great Britain, Israel, and themselves. If the North Korean government really wishes for the denuclearization of all nations, then their wishes accord with those of the majority of the World’s people. If North Korea disarmed themselves, they would fall under the radar as a world power, they would have no more say on America’s denuclearization than does Papua New Guinea, Bhutan, or Sierra Leone. It seems to me (as it should to any thinking person), that if the realization of world denuclearization is the goal of the North Korean government we as members of the human race should support such goals and work toward their realization in this Nation.
